Dr. Bob and Lori Luszczak Graduate Scholarship in Biology
(Spring 2020 Award) The Dr. Bob and Lori Luszczak Graduate Scholarship in Biology was created to support a graduate student in the Department of Biology who is working toward a career in some aspect of the discipline.
*Candidates should be full-time Biology graduate students in good standing and registered in classes in the academic year the award is disbursed.
Lorraine “Lori” and Robert “Bob” Luszczak have been funding this scholarship since 2013. Bob graduated from CSUN in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and earned his dental degree from UCLA in 1990. Bob and Lori have owned White Oak Family Dentistry in Granada Hills since 1992 and Lori manages the office. From 1991 until 1996, Bob was an assistant professor at UCLA School of Dentistry, and spent time at the LA Free Clinic where he received the Dental Volunteer of the Year Award. The Luszczaks are active members of the CSUN Presidents’ Associates. Bob was the recipient of a Litton Industries scholarship at CSUN when the cost of a semester’s tuition was $99. He believes strongly in “giving back” and encourages all their scholarship recipients to do the same when they can.
*Must be a graduate student
*Must be a Biology major.
*Must be enrolled in 6 units for the Spring 2020 term.
*Must have a FAFSA or California Dream Act Application on file for the current academic year.
*Must submit a 1-page (12-point font) personal statement describing : Personal background, Why are you interested in biology, describe your professional goal(s), and how this scholarship will make a difference to you.
*Upload: unofficial undergraduate and graduate transcripts.
*Must request 2 letters of recommendation via the myMatador Scholarship portal.
One letter from applicant’s thesis advisor and a second from a CSUN faculty member.
*If selected as the recipient, I agree to write a thank-you letter to the donor(s) and be willing to meet with the donor(s) or designee(s). Both to be coordinated by the College’s Director of Development.
