The Robert R. Sprague Foundation Scholarship

(2019-2020 Academic Year Award) Fall 2019 graduates are welcome to apply. The Robert R. Sprague Foundation Scholarship was created to support one undergraduate or graduate student majoring in one of the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering or math) with demonstrated financial need.

The late Robert R. Sprague was a leader in the savings and loan industry and a philanthropist. Sprague and a partner built housing tracts in Hawthorne, Inglewood, Torrance and Whittier, California in the early 1940s before he founded and became president of the Los Angeles-based Pioneer Savings and Loan Association in 1943. In 1998, he established the Robert R. Sprague Foundation through which he provided enormous resources to hospitals, museums and educational institutions until his death in 2009. Since then, the Foundation Directors have continued Sprague’s legacy by carrying out his charitable mission.
