The Norman Cutler Outstanding Graduate Leadership Award in Kinesiology

Spring 2026 Award

The Norman Cutler Outstanding Graduate Leadership Award provides support to a graduate student in the Kinesiology program who works in the Center of Achievement and aspires to a career in adapted physical activity. Recipients are selected by a committee comprised of Kinesiology faculty and Center of Achievement staff.

This award was established through a contribution from Leslie (Les) and Terry Cutler in honor of Les’s father, Norman Cutler, who exemplified excellence and commitment to one’s career and calling. The award recognizes a graduate student in the Kinesiology program who demonstrates exceptional leadership in graduate coursework, in the classroom, and in clinical work within the Center of Achievement.

The recipient will be recognized at the Center of Achievement’s graduation ceremony in May.

It is the intention of the donors to provide financial assistance to Kinesiology students with outstanding clinical and leadership potential as they proceed through the adapted physical activity program. Les and Terry Cutler are long-term contributors to California State University, Northridge. Les Cutler attended CSUN in 1963 and later went on to become a dentist, earn a Ph.D., and serve as Chancellor and Provost of Health Affairs at the University of Connecticut. This scholarship reflects the donors’ continued commitment to supporting excellence in the field of health care and rehabilitation.
