Gerontology Scholarship

The College of Health and Human Development invites applications for the Gerontology Recruitment Scholarship, designed to encourage new students to explore and declare the Gerontology Minor.
This opportunity supports students who are curious about aging, passionate about improving the quality of life for older adults, and interested in learning how gerontology connects to diverse disciplines such as health, design, social sciences, and human development.
Scholarship Details
This scholarship is intended to recruit and support students who plan to declare the
Gerontology Minor. Awards are disbursed over two to three semesters to promote
continued enrollment and engagement in gerontology coursework.
Continued funding is contingent upon enrollment in at least one gerontology-related course each semester and declaration of the Minor within the first funded term. Each selected recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship to support academic goals and sustained engagement in the study of gerontology.
Eligibility Requirements
- Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at CSUN.
- Has not yet declared the Gerontology Minor but plans to do so within the current academic year.
- Submission of a short essay (approximately 250 words) describing interest in the field of aging and how gerontology relates to academic or career goals.
Recipient Commitments
- Declare the Gerontology Minor by the end of the first funded semester.
- Enroll in at least one Gerontology course during each funded term.
- Meet with the Gerontology Advisor once per semester to review progress.
- Continued funding each semester depends on verified progress toward completion of the Minor.
