Debie and Kurt Marsden Family Scholarship
Fall 2025 Award
The Debie and Kurt Marsden Family Scholarship recognizes promising Finance students of excellence in the Nazarian College of Business and Economics. Debie and Kurt are loyal Matadors, having met at CSUN and being actively involved during their time as students.
During his time at CSUN, Kurt was heavily involved in various student leadership organizations such as New Student Orientation, Sigma Chi, Business Honors fraternities/organizations, and much more. He was well-connected with various CSUN legacies, such as his mentor Tom Piernik in Student Affairs, and understands the campus and the Foundation’s roles. Currently, he is the Head of Wells Fargo Capital Finance, providing secured financing solutions to companies across a wide range of industries.
During her time at CSUN, Debie was also deeply involved on campus through Sigma Kappa Sorority, the Panhellenic Council, New Student Orientation, and Order of Omega. Debie also went on to graduate with her Master’s in Business from UCLA. After a fifteen-year career in finance, she pursued her passion for higher education and is currently an independent educational consultant. In this role, she provides many prospective college students with selection and admission guidance, financial aid advice, and college/career counseling. She is well-versed in the college admissions process and has visited over 70 college campuses in the U.S. and internationally.
Both Debie and Kurt are charitable individuals involved with a non-profit that promotes greater inclusion for differently-abled youth communities. They are also members of the CSUN President’s Associates, and despite connections to other campuses in Los Angeles such as UCLA and USC, they remain loyal to CSUN as they both understand the unique challenges our students face. They understand firsthand the background of our CSUN students, and the impact and importance of scholarship support.
