Spring 2026 Award
This scholarship is offered through SAGE Learning in Retirement for the College of Health and Human Development.
For CSUN Undergraduate Students Interested in Gerontology.

Who is SAGE Learning in Retirement?
Seniors Study, Activity, Growth and Enrichment (SAGE), Learning in Retirement is a membership-supported group of adults 55+ who share a passion for learning. Members meet to study, share knowledge, discuss ideas, and develop new interests. SAGE recognizes that current students are future leaders in senior care and seeks to support students interested in serving this demographic.

Purpose of this Award
To recognize outstanding scholarship and provide financial support for students engaged in research, capstone projects, or other creative activities in areas of gerontology and senior care, biomedical studies, biochemical studies, public health studies, or related areas associated with the wellbeing of the senior community.

Award Details
Two awards of $1,000 each will be given. Two or more students working on the same research, capstone, or creative activity may apply individually; each student must submit an application with their own essay and one set of references. If a joint project is selected, the award amount will be divided among the recipients, and one collective presentation will be given at an appropriate time.

Why Research, Projects, and Other Creative Activities in Senior Wellbeing Are Crucial:
Data helps us understand the biological, social, and psychological changes that come with aging, enabling us to improve the quality of life for older adults. As populations around the world live longer, addressing age-related diseases, maintaining mental and physical health, and ensuring a supportive environment for seniors become increasingly important.

How to Apply

  • Submit one complete application per student (even for joint projects).
  • Include: an essay and one set of references.
