CSU Nathaniel R. and Valerie Dumont Scholarship Fund
2025-2026 Academic Year Award
The Nathaniel R. and Valerie Dumont Scholarship was established through a bequest in 1993 to assist students with financial needs, especially those with visual or physical impairments.
*Strong consideration should be given to students who are visually impaired, followed in priority by students with other physical impairments. Students without visual or physical impairments are also eligible for this scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be in good standing with a minimum GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
- Open to CSUN undergraduate students.
- Open to students majoring in any major field.
- Demonstrate financial need as determined by a completed FAFSA or California Dream Act application (CADAA).
- Be currently enrolled as a full-time enrolled undergraduate student (12+ units)
Any change to your eligibility status in any term within the award year will result in a cancellation of your award. - Enroll in a minimum of 12 units or more during the awarding terms.

-What experience has impacted your personal growth?
-Tell us about a time you failed. What did you learn from that experience?
-Why are you pursuing your major? How does it relate to your career aspirations?
-Provide an example of service beyond the classroom (i.e., have you taken on significant family obligations, helped others in a specific way, been involved in political action, worked/volunteered/interned at a particular organization, etc.). Why is this example significant to you?
- Verification of physical/visual impairment, if applicable.
Award amount: Eight scholarships of $5,000 will be awarded for the academic year among 4 CSU Campuses.
Please note: If you are receiving Financial Aid (including loans), your financial aid award(s) may be adjusted if you receive a scholarship amount that exceeds your financial aid total limit. Speak to a financial aid counselor during walk-in hours to get a detailed overview about your individual situation.
