Barbara Ann Ward Annual Scholarship for Spanish Studies
2025-2026 Academic Year Award
This scholarship is designed to recognize students majoring/minoring in Spanish or, in the case of Graduate students, have been officially accepted to the M.A. Program in Spanish at the MCLL Dept.. All eligible students are encouraged to apply for the Barbara Ann Ward (BA Spanish ’67) Scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the importance of Spanish language acquisition to future goals.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Open to CSUN students majoring or minoring in Spanish or completing their M.A. Program in Spanish at the MCLL Dept.
- Must have a current FAFSA or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) on file for the current and upcoming academic year.
- Graduate students must enroll in a minimum of 6 units or more during the Fall & Spring terms of the award year.
- Undergraduate students must enroll in a minimum of 6 units in any Spanish Program (major or minor) during the Fall & Spring terms of the award year.
Any change to your enrollment status resulting in less than the require units for any term within the award year will result in a cancellation of your award. - Undergraduate students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.
- Graduate students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
- Graduate students starting the M.A. Program must have a minimum 3.20 final cumulative GPA for their undergraduate studies.
- Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 units at CSUN to apply.
- Two letters of recommendation must be requested through the my Matador Scholarship system. See help text below
*Continuing CSUN students must request letters from CSUN Faculty members.
*Incoming transfer students may request two letters from Spanish faculty of their previous institution. - Upload most recent Unofficial Transcripts ( Incoming transfer students must upload unofficial transcripts from their previous institution.)
- Upload a copy of Degree Progress Report (DPR).

Please note: If you are receiving Financial Aid (including loans), your financial aid award(s) may be adjusted if you receive a scholarship amount that exceeds your financial aid total limit. Speak to a financial aid counselor during walk-in hours to get a detailed overview about your individual situation.
