Associated Students Jennifer De La Torre Scholarship

2026-2027 Academic Year Award

The Associated Students is the primary advocate for students at California State University, Northridge and provides excellent, meaningful programs and services designed to create and enhance a spirited, learning-focused campus environment.

In 1983, Jennifer De La Torre was hired as the Head Teacher and subsequently the position was re-named Assistant Director of the Children’s Center. During her time at California State University, Northridge, Jennifer served as interim director of the center on at least four separate occasions. Jennifer De La Torre served CSUN student parents and their children for more than 33 years with distinction affecting thousands of lives in a most positive way. The Associated Students created this scholarship to recognize the quantity and quality of service of Jennifer De La Torre here at California State University, Northridge.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a continuing matriculated CSUN undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.
  • Must be a parent of dependent children as determined by your financial aid application.
  • Must have a FAFSA or California Dream Act application on file for the upcoming academic year.
  • Undergraduate students must enroll in 12 units* or more during the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Graduate students must enroll in a minimum of 6 units* (8 units preferred) or more during the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters.
    * Any change to your enrollment status resulting in less than full time enrollment for any term within the award year will result in a cancellation of your award.
  • One letter of recommendation must be requested through the my Matador Scholarship system. .
  • A reception will be held in your honor by Associated Students within the beginning of the Fall semester. Scholarship recipient will be sent an invitation in early Fall.

If you receive Financial Aid (including loans), your financial aid award(s) may be adjusted if you receive a scholarship amount that exceeds your financial aid total limit. Speak to a financial aid counselor during walk-in hours to get a detailed overview of your individual situation.
