Visionary Women NEXTGEN Scholars Award

2024-2025 Academic Year Scholarship Award

This award is designed to remove the financial barriers that prevent students from cultivating their career interests, networking, and more generally, participating fully in campus life. This needs-based scholarship will defer the cost of attendance (i.e. tuition, fees, books, transportation, room and board, etc.) up to a maximum of $5,000 per year.

In order for a student to qualify for the Visionary Women NextGen Scholar, they must Be the first member of their immediate family to matriculate to a college/university.

There will be a strong preference for students who are:

  • Currently enrolled in a work-study at CSUN,
  • Involved in campus-based organizations or programs that advance the cause of gender equity, such as the Women’s Research and Resource Center, or sororities and professional networking/alumni groups for majoring or minoring in Gender and Women Studies.

The scholarship will be administered through the Department of Gender and Women Studies.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must be current CSUN Junior and Senior undergraduates who are first-generation college students.
  • Open to any Major or College.
  • Must have a FAFSA or California Dream Act application on file for the awarding academic year.
  • Undergraduate students be in good academic standing.
  • Undergraduate students must enroll in 15 units or more during the Fall & Spring terms of the award year.
    *Any change to your enrollment status resulting in less than full time enrollment for any term within the award year will result in a cancellation of your award.
  • Must have demonstrated exceptional leadership and community service.
  • One letter of recommendation must be requested through the myMatador Scholarship system.
