Lowell Williams grew up in Tehachapi, California, before attending the University of California, Santa Barbara. With his wife, Marsha, they have decided to honor his mother, Gertrude White Sievert, with a scholarship for students at the University. Lowell Williams works at KPMG LLP in New York.

About the Honoree
Gertrude White Sievert grew up in Tehachapi, California, and she lived and worked in the San Fernando Valley. She owned and operated Escrow Productions, an escrow company which helped provide the requisite services for individuals to secure a home in the community. Her offices and home were in Northridge, CA, close to the CSUN campus, and her grandson graduated from CSUN in computer sciences.

The Gertrude Sievert Scholarship Fund will provide scholarships to support students who have returned, after a prolonged break of at least three (3) years, to the University to pursue their education in coordination with raising a family. The scholarship will be awarded to an enrolled student, either undergraduate or graduate, who demonstrates satisfactory progress toward their degree, demonstrated financial need, and can provide proof of dependents listed on the FAFSA/CADAA.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Open to students who have returned to college after a prolonged break of at least three (3) years.
  • Undergraduates must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 or more units for each term of the 2024-25 academic year.
  • Graduate must enrolled in a minimum of 6 or more units for the 2024-25 academic year.
  • Submit two essays. Essay topics will be provided in the application.
  • One letter of recommendation is required from an individual such as a teacher, professor, counselor, advisor or community leader who can attest to your potential for academic and career success.
  • Must have a FAFSA or CADAA (California Dream Act Application) on file for the upcoming academic year.
  • Selected recipient must submit a thank you letter.

If you receive Financial Aid (including loans), your financial aid award(s) may be adjusted if you receive a scholarship amount that exceeds your financial aid total limit. Speak to a financial aid counselor during walk-in hours to get a detailed overview of your individual situation..
