MSP California Homebuilding Foundation Scholarship

2025-2026 Academic Year Award

The California Homebuilding Foundation (CHF) is the research and education center for California’s homebuilding and construction industries. Founded in 1978 through the California Building Industry Association (CBIA), the Foundation serves the homebuilding industry by providing scholarships, research, educational and professional development programs. The Foundation’s mission is to give aid to worthy ambitious students with a desire to pursue a career in the building and construction industry.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Open to continuing undergraduate and graduate continuing CSUN students in the College of Engineering and Computer Science OR a student majoring in Urban Studies and Planning.
  • Applicants must be planning a career in the California homebuilding industry after graduation.
  • Undergraduate GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0.
  • Undergraduate students must maintain 12+ units in the fall and spring semesters of the award year.
  • Graduate GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.5
  • Graduate student must maintain 6+ units in the fall and spring semesters of the award year.
  • Must have a FAFSA or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) on file for the upcoming academic year.
    *Additional documents will be required by the California Homebuilding Foundation if selected as a finalist for this award.

Any change to your enrollment status resulting in less than full time enrollment for any term within the award year will result in a cancellation of your award.

  2. If selected as a finalist, I agree to submit a photo of myself.
  3. What sparked your desire to pursue a career in the building and construction industry?
  4. Personal Statement (minimum 300-word count). The letter should 1) Describe how receiving this scholarship will help you meet your educational goals. AND 2) Explain your career goals after graduation. The letter should be written in business letter format and addressed to: California Homebuilding Foundation.
  5. Attach a current resume including job objective, honors and awards since entering college, participation in student & community organizations including dates and positions held, and employment history in the past two years
