Alumni Association: Cindy and Dan Chernow Graduate Student Scholarship

Fall 2024: 2024 -2025 Academic Year Award

The goal of the Cindy and Dan Chernow Graduate Student Scholarship is to recognize and assist alumni who are loyal to the university; who choose to continue their education at Northridge beyond the undergraduate level.This scholarship is presented by the CSUN Alumni Association. It is helpful to include in your personal statement, background information about your experience as an undergraduate.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • International Students are eligible to apply
  • The applicant must be a graduating senior or alumnus from Northridge
  • Alumni are eligible to apply for this scholarship at any future point in time following graduation.
  • The applicant must have applied for admission or be registered in a post -graduate or credential program at Cal State Northridge at the time of application.
  • Well-balanced and meaningful involvement and leadership in community and/or extra curricular activities.
  • One letter of recommendation will be submitted on my behalf via the myMatador Scholarships portal.
  • Graduate students must enroll in 6 units or more during each term of the upcoming academic year..
    Any change to your enrollment status resulting in less than required enrollment for any term within the award year will result in a cancellation of your award.
  • GPA must be greater than or equal to a 3.0.
  • Must submit an educational resume.


*All recipients of this award agree to submit a thank you letter addressed to the Alumni Association Board of Directors Scholarship Committee in order for award to disburse.

How will graduate level study of your major contribute to your career plans? Please note, this portion of the application is weighed the most by the scoring committee.

The letter should include a signature, title, and contact information. The letter should be addressed to: *Award Selection Committee*.
  8. Please upload: A copy of your student resume/CV. A student resume is a detailed record of your personal and educational information. It includes the name of your school/college, coursework, projects (if any) undertaken, and awards. The resume may also contain additional information like your extracurricular activities, volunteer experiences, job experiences (if any), hobbies, etc.
