MSP Gene and Deanna Detchemendy Scholarship

2024-2025 Academic Year Award

The Gene and Deanna Detchemendy Scholarship Endowment was established to recognize and reward outstanding student leaders choosing to enhance their collegiate experience through fraternity or sorority life while pursuing their education at California State University, Northridge. This scholarship is open to continuing matriculated CSUN undergraduate students who have demonstrated financial need – established by submitting a FAFSA or CADAA- and exhibit personal traits of leadership, scholarship and integrity.

Students must hold a leadership position within a fraternity or sorority (i.e., Greek letter) at California State University Northridge and have demonstrated service to both the campus and Greek communities.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Open to continuing matriculated CSUN undergraduate students who hold a leadership position within their CSUN fraternity or sorority
  • Undergraduates must have a GPA of at least 2.5.
  • Have a FAFSA or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) on file for the upcoming academic year.
  • Undergraduate students must enroll in 12 units or more during the Fall & Spring terms of the award year.
    Any change to your eligibility status in any term within the award year will result in a cancellation of your award.
  • Two letters of recommendation will be submitted on my behalf via the my Matador Scholarship system.
    *One of the two required letters must be submitted from a CSUN faculty member.
  • Must upload a copy of your student resume. A student resume is a detailed record of your personal and educational information. It includes the name of your school/college, coursework, projects (if any) undertaken, and awards. The resume may also contain additional information like your extracurricular activities, volunteer experiences, job experiences (if any), hobbies, etc.tc.

    Please note:
    If you are receiving Financial Aid (including loans), your financial aid award(s) may be adjusted if you receive a scholarship amount that exceeds your financial aid total limit. Speak to a financial aid counselor during walk-in hours to get a detailed overview about your individual situation
