NSP GE Honors Rising Scholar Award

2024-2025 Academic Year Award

The NSP GE Honors Rising Scholar Award will recognize ten first-year students admitted to the General Education (GE) Honors Program with a $5,000 scholarship. The scholarship may be renewed for a second year based on maintaining GPA, program participation, and enrollment requirements. The GE Honors Program combines scholarship funds, an enhanced curriculum, and a variety of co-curricular activities to increase the academic success of high-achieving students.

Students who meet the criteria below will be eligible to participate in the General Education Honors program and may apply for the GE Honors Rising Scholars Award through the myMatador Scholarship Portal:

  • Have been admitted to CSUN as a first-time freshman for Fall 2024
  • Have applied to the GE Honors Program by August 5th, 2024, at 5:00 P.M (see link below)
  • Have a high school GPA of 3.75 or higher
  • Have completed and filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) online by the priority deadline of April 2, 2024.

Only Freshman applicants admitted into the GE Honors Program Fall 2024 will move into the next phase of the selection process for this GE Honors Rising Scholarship

Note that the GE Honors Rising Scholar Award requires applicants to have an unmet financial need of $5,000 as determined by the FAFSA or CADAA.

The GE Honors Rising Scholar Award may be renewed for a second year if all first-year conditions are met. In addition, the student will be expected to continue full-time enrollment each term of the renewal year, maintain a minimum 3.5 CSUN GPA, and be on track to complete four (4) GE Honors courses by the end of the second year.

  5. Scholarship Essay: This is your opportunity to let the scholarship committee learn something about you. Your essay will be unique to your experiences so do not hesitate to express yourself and showcase your individuality. Please respond to the following prompt in 500 words or less: Art can take on a variety of forms. Describe a piece of art that you recently experienced and describe how that piece of art impacted you. The art you choose can be a painting, music, poetry, a portrait, a piece of literature, or even street art.
